Admiral Travel Gallery Announces Strategic Partnership with Bon Appetit Magazine

Admiral Travel Gallery Announces Strategic Partnership

with Bon Appetit Magazine

The two enterprises launch custom-designed epicurean travel experiences

(Sarasota, FL) Admiral Travel Gallery (ATG), a Sarasota-based boutique travel agency specializing in personalized, one-of-a-kind travel experiences, launched an innovative new marketing partnership with Bon Appetit magazine last month. The goal? Enticing travelers with a taste for culinary adventures. Each year, Admiral Travel Gallery and Bon Appetit will create a new epicurean odyssey custom-designed by acclaimed chefs, restaurateurs and travel experts.

According to Malaka Hilton, owner and president of ATG, it’s an idea whose time has come. “Culinary tourism is one of the fastest growing travel trends,” she says. “More than 12 million people each year seek culinary and wine-related activities as their key reasons to travel. Authentic culinary experiences offer unique perspectives into a destination’s cultures and traditions.” Hilton explains that it makes perfect sense to partner with Bon Appetit magazine.

Bon Appétit celebrates the world of great food and the pleasure of sharing it with others,” says Hilton. “With our expertise in travel and their relationships with great chefs and restaurants around the world, we’re planning some extraordinary journeys.”

This year, the group is partnering with South African Tourism, South Africa’s national tourism agency, to create a culinary journey through South Africa. “Journey through the Flavors of South Africa” will introduce travelers to the flavors and textures of South Africa’s eclectic fusion cuisine via some of the country’s best hotels and restaurants.

Hilton explains that “Journey through the Flavors of South Africa,” which takes place October 5-15, 2009, features personally designed menus by top South African chefs, a series of private wine tastings from some of the country’s best vintners, and excursions to the iconic locales of this diverse destination.

The 11-day journey will be led by Ryan Hilton, co-founder of Admiral Travel Gallery, and named by Conde Nast Traveler as one of the world’s top safari specialists. In addition, a Bon Appétit editor will join travelers for the journey. Accommodations include the lovingly restored estate hotel Grand Roche, situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands, and home to the award-winning Bosman’s restaurant. Guests will also stay at the acclaimed six-star One&Only resort in Cape Town. With such celebrated restaurants as Nobu and Gordon Ramsay, the One&Only is the perfect base to explore the city and nearby coastal landscape. The journey ends on safari at the spectacular Singita Lebombo and Sweni lodges in Kruger National Park, known for their outstanding hospitality. Days spent on safari are enhanced with private dinners and breakfasts in the bush.

“This partnership is groundbreaking in further strengthening South Africa’s position as a compelling epicurean travel destination,” said Sthu Zungu, president of South African Tourism in North America. “The association of these renowned organizations sends an important message to our consumers, the affluent leisure travelers who are seeking an enriching travel experience.”
