Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Tea and light pastries will be served and there will be informal modeling. The show is free and open to the public. “This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase Daisy Cotton’s luxe Pima cotton line at a wholesale price and help our community at the same time,” says Sundeen, explaining that Pima cotton is the “Mercedes Benz” of cotton. “It’s highly prized for its breathable, silky softness, which is particularly desirable in Florida where we are always looking for natural, cool, comfortable clothing that is also elegant and stylish.” Pricing starts at $24 per item.

Peruvian Pima cotton is prized all around the world as a luxury fiber and is called “gamuza,” or “suede,” in Spanish, because of its silky soft feel and brilliant luster. The silky soft feel is a result of the excellent growing conditions in the northern coastal valleys of Peru where it is cultivated.

Jan Morrow-Allen, the proprietor of Daisy Cotton, Inc., discovered Pima cotton while traveling through Peru, and fell in love with its “wonderful softness.” After partnering with a close friend who was born and raised in Peru, and whose family has been involved in the manufacturing of products made from Pima cotton, Morrow-Allen opened Daisy Cotton, Inc., in Sarasota, where she now showcases a variety of women’s clothing, including nightwear, jackets, capris, beach cover-ups, cami tops, and yoga wear. Fashions from the Daisy Cotton line are sold throughout Florida in fine boutiques. “Once you wear Pima cotton, you will want something in every color,” says Morrow-Allen. Designing Women Boutique holds several trunk shows and hosts events throughout the year. Visit www.designingwomenboutique.org for information on these events.
