(Sarasota, FL) Celebrate Chinese New Year, Thursday, February 17, 6-8 p.m., at the East West College of Natural Medicine, 3808 N. Tamiami Trail, in Sarasota. This free event, open to the public, features complimentary mini-acupuncture treatments, and lectures and demonstrations about cutting-edge techniques in acupuncture and other healing modalities. “Aspects of Oriental medicine and other non-Western health modalities are part of a fast-growing trend in contemporary healthcare,” says Christina Captain, DOM, AP, the college’s chief administrative officer. “Part of the college’s mission is to help educate area residents about integrative medicine. These kinds of open houses are one way in which we do that.”
The evening’s activities include a demonstration about facial rejuvenation at 6 p.m.; a lecture on feng shui at 6:30 p.m.; and a lecture about the healing properties of acupuncture for arthritic conditions at 7 p.m.
